Absolute Beginner: This describes learners with no prior knowledge of English.
No Exposure: Students at this stage have never studied or used the language before.
Starting Point: It sits right before the official English A1 level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) scale. [1, 2, 3]

Basic User (A1–A2)
A1 (Beginner): You can understand and use basic, everyday expressions and simple phrases. You can introduce yourself and ask or answer simple questions if people speak slowly. [1, 2, 3]
A2 (Elementary): You can communicate in simple, routine tasks and understand frequently used phrases about familiar topics like family, shopping, and work. [1, 2]
Independent User (B1–B2)
B1 (Intermediate): You can handle most travel situations, talk about your dreams and experiences, and explain your opinions on familiar subjects. [1, 2, 3]
B2 (Upper-Intermediate): You can speak with enough spontaneity and fluency to chat easily with native speakers. You can also understand the main ideas of complex or technical texts. [1, 2, 3]
Proficient User (C1–C2)
C1 (Advanced): You can express yourself fluently and spontaneously without much searching for words. You can use English effectively for demanding academic and professional tasks. [1, 2, 3, 4]
C2 (Proficient): You have a near-native command of the language. You can easily understand everything you hear or read and fine-tune shades of meaning in complex situations. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Reem Age: 5 years
Nationality: Jordanian
Starting level: Pre-A1
When Reem began her lessons, she was unable to speak, read, or write in English. She has made wonderful progress since then. She can now practise phonics, write simple words, and communicate using basic English. Her development reflects strong early progress in foundational language skills. Lessons continue to build her confidence, pronunciation, vocabulary, and ability to use English in simple everyday communication.

English Mamadou began lessons at A1 English level and is working towards reaching A2 within six months. He has made excellent progress and is now approaching A2 level. His comprehension, grammar, and understanding of prepositions of time have improved significantly. He is now able to distinguish between and use the correct prepositions with greater confidence. His progress shows a growing ability to understand and communicate more accurately in English.
